What’s New for the 2024 Jeep Gladiator?

Great question; we’re so glad you asked because this is exactly the sort of thing that we get excited about discussing with our customers. If you come to us looking at trucks for sale, then you might be tempted to focus mostly on the impressive selection of Ford, Chevy, and Ram trucks that we offer. While we certainly love our traditional pickup options, if you’re interested in going off-road, then you owe it to yourself to check out the Jeep Gladiator. And if you’re no stranger to the Gladiator, then you might be wondering if anything is new or interesting about the 2024 model year.

A lot of the time, a new model year just means a new exterior color for a vehicle, or sometimes nothing is different at all compared to the previous year. That is definitely not the case with the 2024 Gladiator, however, which has been updated and refreshed compared to last year’s model. While this isn’t the launch of an all-new generation for the Gladiator, the 2024 update is fantastic and includes a host of new features and options inside and out. Let’s take a closer look at the major differences that you should have in mind if you’re interested in the Gladiator but you’re not sure which model year has what you want.

New Look and Exterior Styling

The first thing that most people will notice about the 2024 Jeep Gladiator is the facelift and exterior refresh it’s had. This is especially obvious if you look at it beside the 2023 model, particularly from the front. The 2024 Gladiator isn’t bigger or redesigned or anything like that, but it features a new, rounded front grille that’s distinctly different from the one it’s had for years now. This softens the front end of the Gladiator, giving it a more stylish and restrained overall look, though we wouldn’t exactly call it gentle. This updated front end helps it fit into the modern Jeep lineup a bit better and beautifully matches the recently updated looks of the go-anywhere Jeep Wrangler.

Along with this distinct new look, the exterior of the Gladiator has been updated for 2024 with some functional elements to go along with the aesthetic touches. For example, a windshield-integrated antenna is now offered on the Gladiator, which is perfect for going off-road. Few things are quite as annoying as tackling a challenging trail that you are ready for, only to have your vehicle’s antenna get caught or snapped off by a low-hanging branch. When combined with new wheel designs for the 2024 model, the Gladiator looks better than ever before and has been enhanced in key ways for driving around town or going far past the bounds of civilization.

Bid the Diesel Engine a Fond Farewell

One change for 2024 that might be a bit controversial with some drivers is that Jeep will no longer offer the diesel engine that was previously available on the Gladiator. This change takes effect for this year’s model with its update and refresh; now, the 3.6L V6 with its 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque is the only engine offered on the Gladiator. You can still choose either a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed automatic, which lets you get the kind of driving experience you prefer, and four-wheel drive performance remains standard. Some drivers will lament the loss of a diesel engine on the Gladiator, but the reality is that it simply wasn’t popular enough for Jeep to keep it around.

The good news is that the standard engine still provides plenty of power for this midsize truck, making it a beast on and off the trail. You get up to 1,725 lbs of payload with the 2024 Gladiator and up to 7,700 lbs of towing capacity, making it more than powerful enough for loading up with things you need to take with you or hauling a camper to your favorite campsite. We were hoping to see the 4xe plug-in hybrid powertrain in the Gladiator with the refresh this year, but it looks like we will have to wait a bit longer for that (it might require a redesign and a new generation to accommodate the powertrain). Until then, this updated Gladiator has plenty of power packed into it and is ready for both work and play.

Fantastic New Interior Features

Just like the outside, the interior of the 2024 Gladiator has received some very nice updates designed to elevate your driving experience. Whether you are looking to hit the trail, need something for tackling dirt and gravel roads near your home, or simply want a gorgeous midsize truck for city driving, the updated Gladiator is a perfect fit. Front and center (literally) in this update is the new 12.3-inch infotainment display and updated software to go along with it. The Uconnect 5 system is better than ever, with available Uconnect 5 NAV software that is perfect for getting where you need to go.

One of our favorite things about this updated navigation system is that it includes segment-exclusive Integrated Off-Road Adventure Guides. This provides you with trail guides for all 68 official Jeep Badge of Honor trails across the country (including Black Bear Pass, Holy Cross, Imogene Pass, and more here in Colorado). Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto make it easy to stream audio wirelessly from a smartphone, plus enhanced voice recognition lets you control navigation and other systems while keeping your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road. There’s even a Jeep Skill for Amazon Alexa that lets you use smart home Amazon devices to start your Jeep Gladiator, check your fuel level, send an address to your vehicle’s navigation system, and more.

Two Robust and Capable New Trim Levels

The Jeep Gladiator was already the most rugged and capable off-road truck on the market, but the 2024 update takes things to another level with two new options. If off-road performance is important to you, then you should check out the Rubicon X and Mojave X trim levels, which are new options that build on these two established trims. The Gladiator Rubicon is the most capable rock crawler on the market, while the Gladiator Mojave provides high-speed off-road engineering.

The X versions build on these legends by adding new features inside and out. Both X trims come with an Alpine premium sound system with a Bluetooth speaker that sounds amazing while driving and while hanging out with your vehicle, 12-way power front seats, a heated steering wheel, and leather interior trim. These two trims also come with a body-color three-piece hardtop for extra ruggedness and new front and rear steel bumpers. This takes two trims that already bring legendary power and capability wherever they go and elevates them to a new level.
