The beautiful thing about the modern Ford lineup of trucks is that there really is something for everyone – so no matter what you need, we have you covered. While the F-150 might be Ford’s most popular truck, a full-size model like that is not right for everyone, which makes the midsize Ranger a better option for many people. As your Colorado Ford Ranger dealer, we are pleased to offer the Ranger and all of the features, options, and trims it has available. This makes it easy for us to work closely with all of our customers to help you to figure out what you need and then make sure you drive away in the perfect truck.

Here at The Faricy Boy, this is the driving principle behind everything we do: helping every customer to get just the right vehicle. Our large selection of new and pre-owned models makes it easy for us to provide a huge inventory of different vehicles for our customers. One of our friendly and knowledgeable salespeople will work directly with you, answer all of your questions, and make sure you find the model that has everything you need. Come visit us at The Faricy Boys today to experience this high standard of customer service for yourself and to see everything the Ford Ranger has to offer.

History of the Ford Ranger

While the legacy of Ford trucks goes back more than 100 years to the Ford Model TT, the Ranger has been around for a shorter period of time. Prior to its introduction as a truck, the name “Ranger” was used by Ford for trims of its F-Series trucks and Bronco since the 1960s. In 1972, Ford introduced its first compact truck, the Ford Courier, in order to get into a growing market segment at the time. The Courier was developed in a partnership with Mazda – but Ford wanted something of its own to follow it up, which resulted in the Ford Ranger, a compact truck introduced in 1982.

Throughout its first three generations, the Ford Ranger was a compact model, offering a much smaller option than the F-Series while still delivering on impressive capability, performance, and reliability. The first-generation Ranger, from 1983 to 1992 model years, featured a number of different engine options, including I-4 and V6 engines. In its second generation, which ran from the 1993 to 1997 model years, the Ranger was redesigned with a new body and a more aerodynamic overall design to really separate it from the F-Series. An I-4 engine remained standard during this generation, with two different V6 engines available for those who wanted more power in their compact pickup.

The third generation for the original, compact Ford Ranger ran from the 1998 to 2012 model years and featured numerous upgrades over the previous models. Despite its small size, SuperCab models of the Ranger featured a pair of rear-hinged doors to offer easier access to the cabin. Although the standard engine remained an I-4, it was a newer engine with better performance than the previous generation; starting in 2001, it was replaced by an even better I-4 engine. Several V6 engines also remained available for the Ranger throughout this generation, though shrinking demand for compact trucks resulted in production coming to an end in 2011.

That remained the story of the Ford Ranger for several years until, in 2018, it was resurrected as an all-new midsize truck for the modern Ford lineup. As a midsize option, the new Ford Ranger is larger than before but still smaller than the F-150 and the rest of the Ford F-Series of trucks. Two-door models are no longer available, and all Rangers come with either a SuperCab or SuperCrew for added interior comfort and storage space. If you are interested in a midsize pickup, and you want to enjoy the legendary performance and reputation of Ford trucks, then the Ranger is the way to go.

The 2021 Ford Ranger

Even though it is a smaller size than the larger F-Series trucks, the Ford Ranger still delivers impressive power, performance, and functionality. Just because you want something less than full-size does not mean you should settle for a truck that cannot handle what you need. The Ranger is the perfect blend of practical design and impressive capability, so you still get a fantastic truck in a smaller package. Here are just a few of its great features:

  • A powerful 2.3L Turbocharged EcoBoost engine with 270 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque
  • Up to 7,500 lbs of maximum towing capacity
  • Up to 1,860 lbs of maximum payload capacity
  • Available dual 4.2-inch productivity displays in the instrument cluster
  • Available dual-zone electronic automatic temperature control
  • Available leather-trimmed seating with heated front seats
  • Available 8-inch infotainment display and 10-speaker B&O sound system

Standard safety features include pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking
All of that is just a small fraction of everything the Ford Ranger has to offer and why so many people have come to rely on it as the best midsize truck on the market. If you are interested in going off-road, then the new Tremor Off-Road package should definitely be on your radar. This includes new skid plates for underbody protection, an off-road-tuned suspension with FOX 2.0 monotube dampers, and nearly 10 inches of ground clearance. With 17-inch wheels and all-terrain tires, plus Ford’s terrain management system and much more, a properly-equipped Ranger can tackle any trail you throw at it.
